About this product
Argireline (Acetyl Hexapeptide-8) — pure peptide
A synthetic peptide of six amino acid residues, structurally analogous to the N-terminal fragment of SNAP25. Produced by solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS). Purity is at least 98% by HPLC. A certificate of analysis (CoA) accompanies every batch.
Mechanism of action
Argireline competitively inhibits the assembly of the SNARE complex, the molecular machinery responsible for fusing synaptic vesicles with the presynaptic membrane. This reduces neurotransmitter release at the neuromuscular junction and decreases facial muscle contraction. Unlike botulinum toxin, Argireline does not cause complete muscle paralysis or accumulate in tissues.
Composition
Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 (Argireline). Sequence: Ac-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-NH₂. Molecular mass: 889.0 Da. Available as a freeze-dried powder or an aqueous solution at 500 ppm (0.05%).
Use in cosmetic formulations
The working concentration in a finished product is 0.025–0.05% (2.5–5% of a 500 ppm solution). Add to the formula's aqueous phase at no more than 40°C. Compatible with most cosmetic bases, including creams, serums, patches and gels. Working pH range: 5.5–7.0.
Clinically supported concentrations: 0.025% over 28 days reduced wrinkle depth by up to 32%; 0.05% applied twice daily for 30 days reduced wrinkle depth by 17% after just 15 days.
The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel concluded in 2025, in the International Journal of Toxicology, that concentrations up to 0.005% in finished products are supported by sufficient evidence of safety. At the time of publication, evidence for higher concentrations was insufficient.
Storage
Freeze-dried powder: up to 24 months at −20°C, or up to six months at 4°C in a dry, dark place. Reconstituted aqueous solution: no more than 30 days at 4°C. Do not freeze the solution.
Who it is for
For cosmetic technologists and formulators, cosmetics manufacturers and aesthetic skincare professionals. Intended exclusively for use in cosmetic formulations, rather than undiluted application. Not a medicine.
Important
Argireline's bioavailability when applied to the skin is limited by the molecule's hydrophilic nature and the barrier properties of the stratum corneum. Research indicates that, with standard application, less than 0.3% of the dose reaches the epidermis; the peptide is not detected in the dermis or deeper tissues. Effectiveness in a finished formula depends on its delivery system, active ingredient concentration and pH.
